Family support

In 2024, we received a three-year grant from the National Lottery to offer Family Support to young carers and young adult carers.

We work closely with families of young carers and young adult carers, offering support specific to their individual needs.

Whether it’s applying for grants for essential items like beds or an oven, supporting in meetings with other organisations, or signposting parents to training and educational opportunities, we provide flexible, personalised support.

Supporting the whole family can include:

  • Working alongside families, identifying strengths and preventing issues from worsening.
  • Helping families to improve their communication and relationships.
  • Supporting families to engage with education, health, statutory and voluntary organisations, to help improve their situations in good time.
  • Supporting families who do not meet the criteria for statutory services.

We also offer:

  • Groups and activities for family members to meet others in similar situations, feel less isolated and share coping skills and strategies.
  • Family trips for young carers to have a day out with a parent, grandparent other family member.
  • Workshops for parents and young carers to explore how difficulties they have experienced have affected them, and learn ways to improve confidence, develop resilience and increase their wellbeing.
