Recognising when you are a carer
You might not see yourself as a carer, but if you regularly support someone without being paid because they are frail, have a physical or mental illness, addiction or disability, then you are a carer. Many people don’t recognise this role, as they feel they are simply helping a family member, friend or neighbour.
Seeing yourself as a carer is important. It helps you access the information and support that can make a real difference.
Young adult carers
We believe that many young adult carers do what they do for the love of the person they care for and they should have the same life opportunities as other young people their age.
We know that it can be daunting to think about independence, education, career and big life changes whilst prioritising the needs of others. We know that many young adult carers feel stressed and isolated and struggle with their mental health as a result.
We provide a service designed to support young adult carers in managing their responsibilities while empowering them to move forward and thrive in their own lives
Peer support social activities
These social activities are for young adult carers aged 18 – 25 to meet up in person, but young carers aged 16 and over are also welcome and encouraged to join.
Take a well-deserved break from your caring role, connect with others who share similar experiences, get involved in activities, enjoy some food, and unwind! You’re welcome to arrive at any time and stay as long as you like.
