*New group* Mental Health Carer Drop In

In conjunction with the York Mind Health and Wellbeing programme, we’ll be offering a new informal monthly drop-in for carers of someone with mental ill health.

It starts on Wednesday 31 July 2019, drop in any time from 6-8pm and then monthly on the last Wednesday of the month.

Venue: Slug and Lettuce Swinegate, our group will be located near the Grape Lane entrance.

The sessions are aimed at people who are:

  • caring for younger people in transition to adult mental health services
  • in the early stages of caring
  • in crisis

The sessions are for carers only and will be informal and supportive.

Carers will need to enrol with York Mind before attending the drop in for the first time.

Carers Action Group

This is a meeting for carers who want to see change and meet with local decision makers to influence and improve services.

New carers would be welcome to the group, who meet in a city centre venue and enjoy a light lunch together.

Carers Café

Our Carers Café is a monthly coffee morning for carers take place on the first Wednesday of each month at it’s new home of St. Sampson’s Centre, York.

This is an opportunity for carers to drop in for a break and a chat and meet other carers. Come along and join us for a drink and a teacake.

Please feel free to bring the person you care for if you wish. There is no cost.

The Centre is wheelchair accessible.

A Carer Support Worker will always be there to talk to, and a member of the York Mental Health Carers Group will be there for additional peer support.

York Mental Health Carers Group

This group is run in partnership with charity Rethink Mental Illness York Group and is for anyone who cares for someone with mental ill health.

It meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 7  to 9pm at 30 Clarence Street, York and is for carers only.

There is no need to book, although if it’s your first time attending please contact us on 01904 715490 and we can welcome you to the sessions.
