Acomb Carers Hub

Monthly hub for carers to get together in the local community; take a break and have a chat, share skills and learn something new, gain support and information and have fun.

Join us for our Open Events

York Carers Centre extend an invitation and warm welcome to our Open Event and Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 25 September 2019, in the Denham Room, CVS, Priory Street.

Open Event: 3 until 4.30pm:

Carers and professionals are welcome to drop in without booking, and talk to the team, learn what each of our services offer, ask questions about caring and enjoy free tea, coffee and cakes.

Annual General Meeting: 5 to 6pm

The trustees welcome you to this session. To help us to plan numbers please get in touch to let us know that you would like to attend the Annual General Meeting.

*New group* Mental Health Carer Drop In

In conjunction with the York Mind Health and Wellbeing programme, we’ll be offering a new informal monthly drop-in for carers of someone with mental ill health.

It starts on Wednesday 31 July 2019, drop in any time from 6-8pm and then monthly on the last Wednesday of the month.

Venue: Slug and Lettuce Swinegate, our group will be located near the Grape Lane entrance.

The sessions are aimed at people who are:

  • caring for younger people in transition to adult mental health services
  • in the early stages of caring
  • in crisis

The sessions are for carers only and will be informal and supportive.

Carers will need to enrol with York Mind before attending the drop in for the first time.

Carers Café

Our Carers Café is a monthly coffee morning for carers take place on the first Wednesday of each month at it’s new home of St. Sampson’s Centre, York.

This is an opportunity for carers to drop in for a break and a chat and meet other carers. Come along and join us for a drink and a teacake.

Please feel free to bring the person you care for if you wish. There is no cost.

The Centre is wheelchair accessible.

A Carer Support Worker will always be there to talk to, and a member of the York Mental Health Carers Group will be there for additional peer support.
