Contributory Employment and Support Allowance (CESA)

This benefit is not means-tested. You must satisfy the national insurance requirements and have limited capacity for work (LCW) or limited capacity for work-related activity (LCWRA).

You must also be over 16 years old and under the state pension age. You must not work, unless the work is permitted work.

CESA counts pound for pound against UC. You will receive an extra amount on your CESA if you are found to have limited capacity for work-related activity.

Certain pension payments over £85 per week reduce the amount of the CESA by 50% of any excess over £85.
