Benefits and care advice
We have an Advice & Benefits Worker, Andrew, who can help you claim the benefits and allowances you are entitled to. Contact York Carers Centre on 01904 715490 if you would like to arrange an appointment with Andrew. You will be offered a telephone appointment at first so that Andrew can call you and see how he can help.
Benefit rules are complex – claim one thing and it affects another, and the rules change almost every other day. Andrew can help you understand these issues.
York Carers Centre offers advice and support with form-filling, income maximisation, and appeals.
There are more ways to reduce a council tax bill than people realise – especially for carers. The process is usually straightforward and our Advice Worker, Shirley, can assist with this.
Never out of the news for long – are you a carer or a disabled person affected by the bedroom tax? Should you really be paying it? Get in touch with our Advice Workers for the latest news and updates.
Disabled people, if it appears that they may be in need of services, have a right to an assessment under community care legislation.
So do carers.
York Carers Centre offers advice and information on the assessment process.
