You may not see yourself as a carer, but if someone relies on you for their care, then you are one and support is available to you.

If you’re an unpaid carer in York, or the person you care for lives here, you can register with us for free help. This includes information and advice, someone to talk to, activities, a Carers Discount Card, a Carers Emergency Card and regular newsletters and e-bulletins.

Caring can be challenging, and it’s important to notice how it affects you. A Carers Assessment of Need or one-to-one support can give you space to talk, understand your feelings and find the help you need.

We offer free advice and information to help you in your caring role. From understanding carers’ rights and paying for care, to support with Blue Badge applications, Lasting Power of Attorney and more, we’re here to help you.

Caring for someone with a mental health condition can be challenging. We offer specific support and can connect you with other carers who understand some of what you’re experiencing.

Whether its addiction related to drugs, alcohol or gambling, our Substance Misuse Service is here to support you.

When the person you care for goes into hospital, things can change quickly. We can help you understand what to expect, find the right information, and get support with both practical matters and how you’re feeling.
