Bishopthorpe Palace Gives Carers and York Carers Centre Staff the Grand Tour

As well as their fantastic fundraising efforts for York Carers Centre, Bishopthorpe Palace kindly welcomed carers and York Carers Centre staff for a special tour of the palace and its beautiful grounds. The tour showcased the rich history of the buildings, chapel and fascinating artefacts.

Our tour guide provided a fascinating insight into the history of the Archbishops’ residence at the palace, sharing interesting stories, fun facts and some of the building’s hidden quirks along the way. We also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens, which are home to a number of rare and protected plant species.

After the tour, carers and staff were treated to a lovely spread of cake, tea, and coffee in the palace’s main hall. It was a wonderful experience to be within the walls that had witnessed so many significant historical figures and events.

Staff were given time to walk around the gardens and take part in a mindfulness session led by Carer Support Worker, Ali Gear.

We are incredibly grateful for this fascinating tour and for the palace’s continued support as their charity of the year.
