Award for young carer Molly
Our congratulations go to 11 year old Molly from York for receiving a Lord Mayor of York’s Shine Award this year, celebrating inspirational young people in the city.
Molly is a young carer of her sister, and had been taking some time out at a school holiday art club when her exceptional kindness and generosity was noticed by others in the club. Her Shine nomination was made by Greg McGee who, as well as running the art club, is also co-founder of According to McGee art gallery in York.
Molly’s mum Emma Pool said that she’s “exceptionally proud that with everything that’s happened Molly is just so kind and caring to others. She’s handled the last year fantastically well and very maturely. The art club was really beneficial for Molly to get some time to herself.”
Congratulations Molly, a well deserved award.
We’re currently fundraising to enable young carers to take part in hobbies and activities, such as sports, art, cubs and brownies. To help us reach our £3000 target please visit our Aviva Community Fund page to make a donation. We’re grateful for all support.
