Welcome to the May email update from York Carers Centre.

Carers Week events

13 to 19 June 2011 is Carers week.  There is lots going on for carers in York so please forgive this rather long list:

Monday 13 June:

• Join York Carers Forum at Monk Bar hotel between 10am and 4pm, for sing-a-long, Karaoke, information and refreshments. No need to book.
• York Carers Centre are putting on a  stress management workshop from 7.00pm to 9.30pm at The Basement, City Screen, York.  Call  York Carers Centre on 01904 715490 to book a place.
• York Carers Centre’s young carer workers are at the No Wrong Door conference.

Tuesday 14 June

• York Minster Carers’ Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance in the York Minster Quire is for carers, former carers, cared for, friends and supporters. Starts at 1.30pm, followed by refreshments.  Tickets are free on request from York Carers Forum on 01904 422437 or yorkcarersforum@tiscali.co.uk.
• Visit York Carers Centre’s Carers Week stall in the main entrance of York Hospital. 10am to 4pm.

Wednesday 15 June

• York Carers Centre is holding a pampering evening for carers at Browns Department Store from 6 to 8pm.  Call us on 01904 715490 to book a place.
• Visit York Carers Centre’s Carers Week stall in the main entrance of York Hospital. 10am to 4pm. 
• York Carers Forum are also holding a RETHINK mental health event at Monk Bar Hotel.  More details at www.yorkcarersforum.org

Thursday 16 June

• Information Café for carers, 10am to 4pm, in The Guildhall. Hosted by York Carers Forum. Refreshments available.

Friday 17 June

• MS Café Oaken Grove Community Centre, Haxby 10am to 5.30pm.  All welcome, just call in.

Visit our library stall

We also have an information stall at near the café in the York Explore library all through Carers Week. Please drop by and pick up any of our leaflets (or pens!).  Alternatively you could visit the stall when someone from York Carers Centre is there to offer help:

• Monday 13 June: 10.30 to 11.30am for general advice.
• Thursday 16 June: 11.30am to 12.30pm for general advice, plus young adult carers and employment, education and training queries
• Friday 17 June: 10 to 11am for general advice, plus help for people who care for someone with drug or alcohol problems.
