Welcome to the June email update from York Carers Centre.  Thanks for all your help and support during Carers Week (13 to 19 June).  Staff from York Carers Centre took part in 12 events during the week and we got publicity locally and nationally.  Please keep an eye out for the full update in out next quarterly newsletter.

Visit to Downing Street

One of our carers, Samantha, and one of our trustees, Wendy, visited Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister. They were invited to a reception with David Cameron as part of National Carers Week.  For more information visit the Press website story on carers visit to Downing Street

Online training courses

We have worked with City of York Council to create 2 online training courses; one about Adult Carer Awareness, and one about Young Carer Awareness. The courses are aimed at professionals but can be taken by anyone wanting to learn more about carers. Visit our online training website: www.ycctraining.co.uk

Free tickets for carers at 'Not the Wizard of Oz but similar'

The York Stars Theatre Company’s production of 'Not the Wizard of Oz but similar' is offering free tickets to carers.  This family show is a fun re-take on the classic 'Wizard of Oz'. The show is on Friday 8 July at 7.30pm and on Saturday 9 July at 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Acomb Parish Church Hall.

They have around 10 to 15 free tickets available for each show and they are given out on a first come first served basis.
