Enter the 'Full of Life' photo competition
Entries need to be positive photographic images of people aged 50+ doing something they love in York. This could be working, playing, volunteering, or socialising with friends and family. The older person (or people) should be the focus of your photo. For more information about the categories and download an application form visit our website.
Places still available on our stress management workshops
At this workshop carers can discuss the things that are most stressful for them. It is also a chance to meet other carers and share ideas about how to cope. The workshop will last about 2 and a half hours (with a break for refreshments) and will take place on:
- Wednesday 18 May 2011, from 1.00 to 3.30pm at Oaken Grove Community Centre, Haxby.
- Monday 13 June 2011, from 7.00 to 9.30pm at The Basement, City Screen, York.
Carers only need to attend one workshop (as this is a single workshop rather than a series of three workshops). There are 12 places available at each venue. Ring us on 01904 715490 for more information or find out more about the stress management workshop on our website
Free laptops for carers
We have been given limited funding to help carers who don’t have a computer of their own to buy one. Eligibility criteria will apply. If you would like more information ring Linda, York Carers Centre’s manager, on 01904 715490.
The Hardest Hit campaign
Carers UK has launched a new campaign, The Hardest Hit, against the Government's proposed cuts to disability benefits. They’ve teamed up with the Disability Benefits Consortium and the UK Disabled People's Council to fight proposals that could see some families left without vital help.
